Metropolitan Transportation Authority busses are seen in New York, December 19, 2005, as the Transit Workers Union launched a limited strike at 12:01 a.m. affecting two private bus companies after a new contract agreement could not be reached with the MTA. If an agreement cannot be reached by 12:01 a.m. Tuesday, the union will call for a system-wide strike by their 34,000 workers, which would strand 7 million bus and subway commuters and cost New York City as much as $400 million a day.
