Hong Kong shares rose sharply Friday, led by heavyweights China Mobile (Hong Kong) Ltd., HSBC and CNOOC Ltd., following gains on Wall Street overnight. The blue-chip Hang Seng Index rose 407.57 points, or 2.64 percent, to 15,842.65.
