Police officers offer a silent prayer for martyrs on Qingming or Grave Sweeping Day Tuesday, April 5, 2005 at Longhua Martyrs Mausoleum in Shanghai, China. People are visiting graves across the country in the buildup to Grave Sweeping Day on April 5, when Chinese traditionally pay respects to their ancestors. The day is a time to clean up grave sites, make offerings of food and drink and burn paper money. The words written by former Chinese President Jiang Zemin read 'Loyally shed blood for the people.'
