Taiwan Premier Yu Shyi-kun said on September 17, 2004 that Taiwan intelligence officers had held secret dealings with a former senior U.S. diplomat but denied that the government had committed any wrongdoing. Keyser, former principal deputy assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, has been charged with concealing a trip to Taiwan a year ago when he met a 33-year-old Taiwan woman intelligence officer, according to U.S. court documents and law enforcement officials.
